Good hostels can be hard to come by but with this advice on what to look for, you’ll be sure to stay in a place where you can be comfortable and make lots of friends.
Even with a favorable exchange rate, New Zealand is an expensive country. If you’re going to backpack here, be prepared to spend your money. That said, I offer some tips in this post on how you can cut expenses in order to make it work on a budget.
It’s easy to get around New Zealand. Buses go everywhere, cars constantly pick up hitchhikers, campervans are easy to rent (and there are lots of rest stops), and backpacker bus tours zigzag around the country. Plus, there are trains and planes. In short, there’s no shortage of transportation options.
I didn’t really like Vienna the first time I went, but over the years the city has changed — and so has my opinion of it. What was once a stiff capital city is now a more relaxed, arty destination. With tons of museums and history, as well as some great food and wine, Vienna is worth taking the time to visit. Here is my suggested itinerary if you’ve got a week to spend in the capital.
