Most people go to Amsterdam, sit in coffeeshops, visit the red lights, and look at Van Gogh. There is a lot more to traveling in Amsterdam than just that.
Only an hour away, Rotterdam is a good place to go to contrast Amsterdam. Too often people sit in coffeeshops in Amsterdam and think that’s the Netherlands. But there’s much more to the country, and Amsterdam’s rival city is a good place to start exploring.
Updated: 8/12/18 | August 12th, 2018 The Palace of Versailles. A decadent symbol of royal power and influence that, to this day, still wows visitors. It’s one of the most-visited attractions in Paris. The Palace offers an incredible insight into French history, illuminating the lavish and ostentatious lives the former monarchs used to live. I knew the Louvre was going to be huge. I knew the seven hours I planned to spend there wasn’t going to be nearly enough. But I never thought I’d walk away after seeing something for seven hours feeling like I saw nothing. The Louvre is the biggest museum in the world with thousands of […]
Posted: 09/09/2009 | September 9th, 2009 I knew Bordeaux was going to be expensive. I was here last year to visit friends and got to experience Bordeaux’s high prices first hand. Traveling Paris in August. Thousands of Parisians flee the city for their annual summer vacations. Thousands of tourists flood in to take their place. If you happen to be one of them, it’s a great time to be here: the weather is nice, the parks and gardens are green, and the streets are a little […]
The Lake District is located in Cumbria, on the northwest coast of England about an hour from the Scottish border. The Lake District is to northern England what Cornwall is to the south, and I can’t figure out which one I enjoyed more. They’re both beautiful. The lakes are a result of the last ice […]
My flight to London was uneventful. Well, it could have been eventful, but I was sound asleep until we landed in Dublin. When I connected from the Irish Republic, I was surprised I didn’t pass through passport control in Heathrow. I looked, but it was right on to baggage claim for me. Now I’ve managed […]
