Your best bet is to teach TOEFL in Korea. The pay is double or more than your average school. But I'm not a native speaker. Do you know in what countries it is not a requirement? My first language is French, but it seemed that the demand for French in Asia is very low. Not many info online. Have you met people teaching French in Asia? Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I’d like to teach abroad in Asia in Japan, Korea… But I’m not a native speaker. They will set you up when you get there. I would recomend YBM as a good school to work for. There are a ton of crap Hagwons that abuse teachers (forigen and Korean).

Then Korea is your best bet. They will set you up when you get there. I got a gig here in Nam paying $2,500 USD / month and a shared house payed for. $25-$35 is the going rate if you have a 4 year degree and a TEFL. I do know a teacher making $45 an hour, he has been in Vietnam for 4 years and made a name for himself. Unlike Korea, your ability to actualy teach will earn you more money in both Thailand and Vietnam. In Korea they just want to put a white persons face on there flyers and a babysitter for kids who have been in school for 13 hours a day, 6 days a week. I would not go back to Korea unless it was for a university gig. Then the 3 months payed vacation is worth it, but being in Korea is a bit dull. I like the people, food, and weather much better in SE Asia, and Vietnam seems to pay the best.

I have taught English in Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, and now Vietnam.
