I want to teach ESL. I have my Elementary Education degree from an accredited college. However, I am being very specific about the location I want to teach. I hear all the time that it is near impossible to get a job there along with a working visa. Long story short, I want to teach in France. I want to bypass the TESL certificate. I looked it up, the course outline, and found it very repetitive, as I already have my degree and experience in teaching. where do I go from here? Who can I contact? Thanks! My dilemma is that I am not from the specified countries (i.e US, UK ..)I am a Native English speaker, but nationality is Kenyan. I have studied in the US since I was thirteen, but I still maintain my nationality. I am graduating from my university in Atlanta and have been doing research on teaching english abroad, but I have had some trouble with eligibility.Do you know any recruitment services that are more open to hiring outside the specified countries? Thanks.

Hey, thanks for all the info. However, it is certainly possible for non-native speakers, who have a high-level of English to obtain employment as an English teacher, especially in Thailand and China. You can expect to make the same salary as a native English speaker as long as you have a Bachelor Degree and a TEFL certificate. Many of my students are not native English speakers, but have a high level of English and upon completion of their TEFL training all of them have found good jobs primarily in universities.

In general this is all excellent and accurate information about teaching in Asia.
