Sorry Gerard for getting back to you so late.

I think the industry has changed from a teachers market to a schools market. Just having a degree is not enough any more. The better jobs are going to teachers with TEFL qualifications and teaching experience. I see this as a result of a growing market pool for a limited number of positions.

If you want to stand out, get a TEFL certificate and suck it up at a less than stellar school for a year or two. At that point you can transfer to a better school and really enjoy the benefits of living and teaching abroad.

A lot of people are interested in teaching English overseas, but you’re right about the tons of sites that come up in the search engines. It’s tough to get straight answers without a ton of research. I hope your book will help people narrow down what they want to do and where.

Just wondering how specific to country of origin is it?

I’m based in the UK and have done a bit of research already, so not sure if your ebook is entirely suited to my situation (though the potential usefulness of the job board bit is tempting in itself!)

This looks like an interesting book. I look forward to reading it and learning what kind of advice you offer.

I taught English in Taiwan for two years and had an awesome time. Since then the industry has certainly changed, but I still highly recommend teaching overseas to anyone seeking valuable work experience living abroad.
