I know Tenerife much better though. The student life there is excellent; makes it great to hang out at for a few months, and it has the Teide, Spain's highest peak, which I managed to <a href="http://www.irishpolyglot.com/travel/hike-up-mount-teide/en/" rel="nofollow">hike to the top</a> of while I could! :D For accommodation of a week or more, check out loquo, the "craigslist" of Spain for some great ads. Speaking Spanish is a must for worthwhile prices though. Lanzarote is great, I visited there briefly. I know Tenerife much better though. I love islands that are not packed with tourist and, authentic, and has preserved nature. The writer really was able to portray a nice scenic picture of the island.
