Carnival of Blogs #17

Today, I move back to Bangkok. My time in Taiwan is over and I’m happy about that. I enjoyed my time in Taiwan (I finally got to see many of the sites so expect a plethora of Taiwan related posts soon) but I need to get back to Bangkok to do some work. This blog is suffering, my earnings are suffering- I need to get to it. I have tons of content for this site coming over the next few weeks and I’m working on producing some more tips for the travel tips section. I’m cruising around the blogosphere more and this week, I’ve found these things worth mentioning:

Theresa and Jeff found elephants in Africa. I’m super jealous that they are in Africa. I want to go on safari. Now.

Travel Experta has some good tips for seeing a kid friendly Costa Rica. She’s an expat living there so she knows her stuff!

Go Green Travel Green has some tips for using travel flight search engines. They are also going to be producing an ebook soon.

Indie Travel Podcast helps you to stick your accommodation budget because sticking to your budget is one of the hardest things to do on the road.

Nancy Brown had a fun 48 hours in Eugene, Oregon. It’s seems like a unique place.

A Singaporean in London gives you tips on Singapore’s Chinatown. This article made me hungry and brought back lots of good memories of Singapore.

Four Suitcases is finishing their trip in New Zealand and telling you about their Auckland highlights. Lots of good pictures too!

Brave New Traveler has a a great article about how to reinvent yourself while traveling. It’s insightful and humorous all at once. I’ve done it sometimes. Sometimes you just have to have fun with it because really, how many times do you want to answer the question “where are you from?”

Want to win a free trip around the world? Hostelbookers is giving one away. Go sign up for their competition and win a free trip!

Lastly, you can find out about my life and what I’m doing besides traveling at my new blog post on my life. I’m all over the place lately!

Thanks for sharing, Matt! I know you will do well with online marketing / content writing / SEO, and all those things. Let me know how I can help. You want me to click on an ad? For sure, I’m there! I know how it feels to not want to go back into a staid office (I work in one and long to escape)! And I know how it feels to run out of funds (as per my last blog post, our savings are drained from a 20-month long home reno we’re in. I think we’re taking legal action against our contractor). Life is tough. Stay on the road, it might be easier!

  2. thanks for the post. The indie travel podcast post seems quite useful.

  3. Hi Matt! Thanks for the links. I really liked the Brave New Traveler one about reinventing yourself while traveling. Expats do some of that too, I’ve noticed. Maybe cause they think you’re going to move back tomorrow, so they put on a show. then when you’re actually hanging around for a while they become real, whatever that means:)

Hey Matt – we’ll be back in Bangkok for about a day around May 25th/26th. Let me know if you’re around to meet up.

You know Tiesto is in Bangkok for a concert right now! Argh! It’s killing me!
