I know I have been sort of slack lately with postings. I’m a bit over committed right now but I promise next week I’ll start posting a bit more. I have some good posts in the works. However, just because I have been slack, doesn’t mean everyone else has been. There has been a lot of good postings on the web during the last few weeks.
Tanya at Parisian Spring had a good post on not escaping the cubicle. With everyone rushing to leave, she tells you to hold on and enjoy some of the things office life is good for.
Julie at Collazao projects had an interesting post on the cultural relativism of bikinis.
Go Green, Travel Green has a list of ten countries that are great for vegetarians. They also had a week of link love last week. Go check out their past posts for some great blogs to read.
Indie Travel Podcast is telling you about the cheap places to stay in Hawaii and I am telling you how to choose the right hostel.
Nancy Brown had some good packing ideas for Switzerland.
I found two new blogs: Renny’s Terrella and Nile Guide. Renny blogs about Norway. If you haven’t been to Norway, you can find all the inside scoop at his site. NileGuide is a travel blog with good tips and stories for destinations around the world.
If you are looking for medical tourism, Nomad4Ever has five good reason to do it in Goa.
Finally, there are the Lonely Planet blog awards. I didn’t get nominated but I will live. I find web awards to be a simple numbers game anyways. Those with the best online user community wins. That being said, a lot of good blogs did get nominated. I won’t say who I voted for but I do want you to help me beat the bog. I suspect Notes From Spain has a bot in the Podcast category that keeps voting for them so go and vote for someone else in that category just to help even the odds!

Im checking the vegetarian option right away
Hi Matt – I nominated you as much as I could…you best embody the LP philosophy (nomadic, budget, fun), moreso than the other finalists.
However, I also nominated another blog and it did make it to the finals, so I am happy for her. There’s next year again…
It’s pretty sad that someone would set up a bot to garner an web award. I hope the prizes are worth it.
Thanks for the mention, Matt! As always, your blog carnival is helping me discover some cool blogs I’ve never seen before and might not have found otherwise.
What great recommendation of travel tips in Blogsphere. As a network evangelist, I love to meet new people and read new blogs and this was a real good collection.
Thanks also for plugging and your endorsement on mine too – I feel flattered Matt!
Thanks also for listing me in your Blogroll – I have noticed quite a lot of visitors from yours lately. Of course I’ve returned the favour, so now your on mine too
A bot to help them win? Damn that sucks. Well better luck next year, and good round-up all around.
@stevo @nik: for sure, there are ways around wp-polls. It’s easy to scam. WP-polls has lost my “ip signature” and now will let me vote again. (I’m going to) but it is easy to game it for advantage.
Thanks for mentioning the NileGuidance blog, Matt! We’ll have to check out some of your other recommendations.
