Another week and another great roundup of blogs. A lot of good stuff happened this week, not only for this site, but for other sites as well.
For starters, Go Green Travel Green had a great post on the animals of Tikal and the 17 best foods in Argentina. Both great articles. And speaking of the Latin American world, Almost Fearless has yet another great post about being a gringo in Central America.
The Art of Non-Conformity has been redesigned and it looks great!
The guys from Two Guys Around the World had a hilarious post dissecting Kiwi New Zealand phrases. It was a heaps of laughs. And speaking of funny, Tackling the Globe had a great post on why scammers are always Nigerian.
Travel Junkie gives some advice on how to avoid travel fatigue and Travel Savvy Mom has some good iPhone apps for kids to keep them occupied while traveling.
Matador Travel gives you advice on how to tell your travel partner you want to travel solo and Vagabondish helps you save money so you can go travel in the first place. Plus, Matador then gives you tips on how to plan for medical emergencies.
In something long overdue, I’d like to bring your attention to Sand Dollar Adventures, a hilarious blog that is witty and funny and keeps me laughing. It’s good medicine for those early morning blog reading sessions.
In site news, Nomadic Matt’s Travel Site has been nominated for 2009 Bloggie. Go add to the nominated and make this site a finalist at the 2009 Bloggie. The site has also been nominated for a Lonely Planet Blog Award. You can add to the nomination at LP Blog Awards. Help the site reach new heights and I’ll be in your debt (and return the favor!)
Also, I’ve noticed comments on the site have been down (though readership has been up) and was wondering what posts would you like to see on this site? In an effort to engage the growing readership of this website, it’s time to take an informal survey and find out what posts do you like more of, not like to see, and would like to see that we don’t have? What posts would also get you to interact more. I love reading comments and responding to them.

Hey Matt,
must have missed your comment about meeting up. I was a bit sick in BKK, so mostly stayed in my room. Sorry bout that. How was your new year, mate?
Cheers for the link, always appreciate that
Heading over to the sites to vote for you now…
Boris
Definitely will be putting in some votes for you.
What would I like to see? More personal stories of your travels, or your readers travels. I like the ‘you should go here, or there’ posts and the ‘top 10, or top 5 this or that’ posts and I really enjoy discovering new blogs in your ‘blog carnival’ posts but I would be here more, and comment more on personal stories. It is they that inspire me to travel and make me see that I can do it!
Thanks! Happy New Year to you too.
Matt,
Thanks for the “shout-out.” (Do you young’ens still use that term?)
Interesting comments about the comments: I don’t get a fraction of the readers you do and a sub-fraction of the comments.
I sometimes wonder what’s up with comments, or lack thereof.
I would love to hear people’s comments about your comments about comments.
What – no comment?
I second Gillian. We want to hear about YOU!
Good to know what people want. I have a few personal posts coming up!
Although I don’t comment, just wanted to let you know I’m always reading your blog
Thanks for the links!
I agree that personal posts are always a bit more fun to read, can mix it up a bit, and encourage comments.
We’ve also seen fewer comments lately– perhaps it’s the holidays and with more travel bloggers traveling they have less time themselves to comment?
Diverse collection, Matt. Will read ‘em all.
Thats odd, readership up but comments down!
well done
